Erin concentrates her practice in the areas of taxation, estate planning, wills, trusts (drafting and defending), and business transactions.  She enjoys helping individuals and families with succession planning and various wealth transfer issues, and she also has experience with advising private foundations on routine tax issues.  Additionally, Erin has experience representing clients in Arkansas gross receipts tax matters, including audits and appeals.

In business transaction matters, Erin advises clients on general corporate issues such as articles of incorporation, bylaws, contracts, loan documents and employee benefits.  Regarding real estate purchases, Erin advises clients on title issues from removal of outdated mortgages to IRS tax liens.

Erin’s experience covers such areas as:

  • Tax planning for individuals and families, including estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes and income tax
  • Preparation of wills, trusts, and other estate planning documents
  • Development and implementation of succession plans for family-owned businesses and properties
  • Administration of estates and trusts and preparation of estate and gift tax returns
  • Advise on Arkansas gross receipts tax issues, including audits and appeals, and various issues related to asset purchases and leveraged leases
  • Formation of private foundations, including applying for, obtaining, and maintaining tax-exempt status, and advice on required distributions and application of the net investment income tax
  • Advise on general corporate matters, including tax issues in corporate formation, drafting articles of incorporation and bylaws, and reviewing and drafting contracts and loan documents
  • Advise on employee benefit issues, including those related to Section 1411 employee eligibility for premium assistance notices under the Affordable Care Act, Medicare Secondary Payer demand letters, HIPAA compliance, and church plan status
  • Advise on the documentation and withholding and reporting requirements for distributions of U.S. source income to nonresident aliens
  • Advise on real estate purchase issues
  • Transaction due diligence for Mergers and Acquisitions, including contract review and preparation of schedules for acquisition agreements
  • Obtaining late election relief for S corporation, Electing Small Business Trust (ESBT), and Qualified Subchapter S Trust (QSST) elections
