Professional Experience

Garland “Gary” Garrett is the practice manager of the firm’s Business Section.  He practices in the areas of corporate and securities, commercial lending and borrowing, real estate, and debtor/creditor law.  He also assists on litigation matters involving business, commercial, and real estate issues.  Gary has over thirty years of experience in a broad spectrum of transactions.  His experience representing both lenders and borrowers, buyers and sellers, and debtors and creditors provides knowledge of both sides of the equation and allows Gary to provide value by focusing on the critical issues.  He assists clients with structuring, negotiating, and drafting loan documents, commercial contracts, asset and real estate purchase and sale agreements, leases, real estate documents, and numerous other documents, instruments and agreements within his practice areas.

Some of Gary’s recent experience includes:

  • Representing the lead lender in restructuring a syndicated commercial loan in connection with the corporate reorganization of the borrower and the guarantors.
  • Representing various borrowers in financing transactions, including originating new loans and modifying existing loans.
  • Serving as local counsel and issuing opinions for non-Arkansas lenders and borrowers in connection with financing transactions that involve Arkansas entities or collateral in Arkansas.
  • Representing property owners in connection with development disputes and issues.
  • Representing a creditor and assisting in litigation of objections to bankruptcy discharge.
