Professional Experience
Kathy Perkins has been recognized by Best Lawyers since 2006 and by Mid-South Super Lawyers since 2007. In 2011, she was named one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in the Mid-South. Ms. Perkins focuses on both intellectual property and general litigation. She regularly prosecutes and defends trademark and copyright litigation matters and has filed more than two hundred trademark and copyright applications for clients. As to general litigation, she tends to focus on complex commercial litigation including class actions. Recent matters include the following:
- successfully obtained summary judgment in defense of a class action in a dispute involving claims of deceptive trade practices and fraud related to the charging of and collection of sales tax.
- currently representing clients in defense of two class actions pending in Arkansas state court involving issues of the collection and remittance of hotel occupancy taxes and illegal exactions.
- currently representing three clients in defense of asbestos claims.
- currently representing local client in defense of welding rod claims.
- oversees lemon law and warranty breach claims in the state for the world's largest automobile manufacturer.
