Governmental Relations
We are well versed in the federal, state and local legislative processes. We advise clients on matters before the United States Congress, the Arkansas General Assembly, County Quorum Courts, City Councils and various boards and commissions.
State and Local Government Relations
We can provide you with the research, drafting and lobbying resources necessary to achieve your legislative goals. If the situation calls for a multi-disciplinary approach, we can help you build a team of public relations and technical professionals to tackle the project. In addition, we can help you make sure that you and your representatives are in compliance with all applicable lobbyist, ethics and public disclosure laws and regulations.
Our recent legislative efforts include business incentives, insurance regulation, utility regulation, and trust administration. We directed a successful effort to obtain a statutory exemption from redundant state pipeline safety regulations. Other projects include tax credit, economic development, probate law, and sales and use tax matters. We also drafted amendments to federal banking law providing for a federal override of state usury limits.
We can assist with federal, state, and local government contracting. We advise our clients on their rights and obligations as government contractors and on Freedom of Information Act issues. We also have experience negotiating and litigating state and local incentives for new and existing Arkansas businesses.
State and Federal Administrative Proceedings
We have extensive experience representing clients in administrative and regulatory proceedings. Please see the separate section on regulatory and administrative law for more information.
