Senior member M. Jane Dickey was recently honored as the 2011 recipient of the William F. Rector Award for Distinguished Civic Achievement by Fifty for the Future. The award is bestowed for significant civic contributions to the Little Rock region and Pulaski County over the course of a career. Jane considers her most enduring achievement that of being instrumental in the creation of Central Arkansas Water, which consolidated the public water systems of the Cities of Little Rock and North Little Rock. Other notable activities include her role in founding and serving as the first president of VOCALS, a program providing pro bono legal services for indigent persons in central Arkansas by lawyers in private practice. Jane is a past president of Fifty for the Future and The Downtown Little Rock Partnership. She was awarded the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) Chancellor’s Diamond Award in 2004 for service to the University and the 1983 Lawyer’s Award of the Pulaski County Bar Association. Jane is the Chair of UALR’s Board of Visitors. Jane’s most notable professional achievement is serving as the 1992–93 President of the National Association of Bond Lawyers. In 1990, she was Chair of Bond Attorneys’ Workshop, NABL’s national educational seminar for bond lawyers, which is held for three days each fall. She is also a fellow in the American College of Bond Counsel.
