BIO

Betsy is a tenacious litigator who handles a wide variety of civil disputes. Her focus and experience is concentrated in three main areas: Creditors Rights, including collections and bankruptcy, Commercial Contract and Tort disputes, and Family Law.

In her representation of creditors, Betsy strives to meet each client’s objectives in the most efficient and cost conscious manner possible while obtaining the highest return in value. Examples of matters in which Betsy has assisted clients include the following:

  • Bringing and defending against replevin actions
  • Bringing and defending against unlawful detainer actions
  • Obtaining, registering and enforcing judgments through a number of collection methods, including garnishments and executions against property
  • Representing clients in bankruptcy court by filing proofs of claim, negotiating settlements, filing objections to discharge, conducting discovery in contesting actions and defending and bringing adversary proceedings

In her commercial litigation practice, Betsy has a diversified practice with success representing clients in both contract and tort disputes, including:

  • Unfair business or trade practices claims
  • Construction defects
  • Lemon law
  • Products liability
  • Breaches of warranty

She has represented both businesses and private individuals in fiduciary litigation.

Family law is a substantial part of Betsy’s practice. She works closely with her clients to counsel them on the processes involved and best path forward for their unique circumstances in recognition of the difficulties, financially and emotionally, that arise with these types of legal matters. Betsy has extensive experience handling the following types of cases:

  • Grandparents visitation
  • Paternity, adoptions by consent
  • Custody disputes
  • Contested and uncontested divorces
  • Post-divorce disputes, including contempt proceedings

Over the course of her career, Betsy has built a reputation for being a zealous advocate for her clients while providing reasonable and practical “straight talk” advice to her clients. Betsy has experience guiding clients through every aspect of litigation to a successful resolution, whether that may be through the following:

  • Summary judgment for large sporting goods supplier on trade practice and unfair practices claims
  • Defense verdict in favor of major land development company in lawsuit seeking to invalidate provisions in land covenants
  • Defense verdict for a regional bank accused of violating the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act
  • Jury trial verdict in favor of local construction company in a breach of warranty claim
  • Verdict for a real estate management entity in a breach of lease against a former tenant
  • Jury trial verdict for Plaintiff against hospital for breach of employment contract
  • Jury trial verdict for large medical implant supplier against local hospital
  • Summary judgment for gas and welding supply company on claims to enforce non-compete agreement against former employee
  • Representation of national agricultural retail supplier in collection and bankruptcy matters
  • Representation of clients in divorce, custody disputes and grandparent visitation matters
  • Defense of Nursing Home Operators in a U.S. Tax Court action
  • Successfully argued appeal at the Arkansas Supreme Court on behalf of a regional bank
